Halloween is the absolute perfect day to start the Vin Brule´ season. This hot spiced wine is very typical in the North of Italy, we grew up really closed to the Alps and on a skiing Sunday Vin Brule´ is a must! I really suffer the cold weather, it happened to me more than ones that skiing or spending the day in the mountains I got my hand and feet so cold that it hearts to move them (this is one of the reason why I wanted to move to California, the State where is always warm and sunny. Unfortunately we decided to open a chocolate shop, and a one where the chocolate is all natural and with no preservatives so the temperature in the store can never go over 72º F; not to hot but still coldish for my taste 🙂 ). Back to the beverage, when my hand get so cold I can barely move them a hot cup of Vin Brule´ is ideal. I like to hold the cup with both hands and sip it little by little to warm my heart and also to not get drunk right away.
The night of Halloween Roberto and I enjoy to walk around the neighborhood in Santa Monica where the street are closed to the traffic and the houses are unbelievably decorated. So after a few hours outside I get pretty cold , we go home, I make the Vin Brule´ and we sit on our balcony sipping a hot and delicious cup staring at the stars…
