I love, love, love pizza, but since a few years refined grains and gluten in general are no longer part of my daily diet. Do you think I gave up my beloved pizza, no way, or better I indulge with real pizza very rarely and the rest of the times when I have a pizza craving I always try new ways to satisfy my palate with delicious alternative. Today Roberto came home with beautiful Portobello mushrooms and said why not turn them in little pizzas?

We where very happy with the tasty result, Roberto tried also some variations with prosciutto and olives, so I suspect that more recipes are soon to come 😉

Portobello Mushroom Pizza Easy Recipes
Ingredients
  • 4 large Portobello Mushrooms
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tbsp etra virgin olive oil
  • oregano
  • salt and pepper
Instructions
  1. wash the mushrooms, remove the stems and clean the inside of the heads really well, it's easier if you use a spoon
  2. spry the olive oil inside and out and lay the mushrooms in an oven dish with their open side up
  3. season them with salt and pepper
  4. cook in a preheated oven at 400 F for about 10 minutes
  5. add the tomato sauce and cook for 30 minutes
  6. add the mozzarella cheese and cook for 15 minutes
  7. sprinkle with fresh oregano and serve hot

  1. I love the idea of portobello pizza! Never thought about it and my mouth is watering just by looking at the photos. Going to try this recipe. Portobello is number one in my “to make” list right now.
